Circa 1790, Scottish George III mahogany concave inlaid serving table/console table. This unusual table has a wonderful shell inlay in the centre of the top and string inlay around the edge. Beneath the top is an ogee moulding and an apron with flame mahogany and a shell inlay similar to the top. At the corner fore edge at either end is a circular roundel of inlay. The back legs are set back so the table can sit over a dado rail. Two small triangles have been added to the corner to make it sit flush against the wall. The whole piece stands on four square tapering inlaid legs with a small inlaid dot and curved arch at the top, a common feature on Edinburgh antique tables. Finishing on raised tassel toes. Good colour and patination.

Size 89cm high x 159.5cm wide x 57cm deep.
