Roman Fluted Glass Unguents Bottle
A Roman dark green glass unguentarium with an out-turned rim set at a slight angle to the neck, and a tubular body decorated with columnar indentations. The bottle has a flattened base.
Condition: Complete and intact, with iridescence in places a few light accretions.
Height 8.1 cms (3.2 ins).
Roman eastern empire: Circa 2nd-3rd Century AD.

Context: Glass was produced in large numbers in the later Roman empire. It was used to produce items of everyday use, for keeping expensive unguents and cosmetic oils which would have been gathered from all corners of the expansive Roman Empire.
