Robert Tavener signed painting of Tunbridge Wells
This is a fine original Robert Tavener RE (1920-2004) signed ink and watercolour painting of Tunbridge Wells from the Common.
The watercolour is signed bottom right with the title 'Tunbridge Wells' in the artist's hand above the signature. It is simply framed in grey wood moulding and a cream coloured mount.
The composition depicts a number of the impressive Georgian and Victorian buildings lining London Road (A26) and facing the Common close to the intersection with Church Road. The tower of Trinity Church, designed by the highly-regarded Regency architect, Decimus Burton, and now a theatre, can be seen part way down Church Road.
Better known for his linocuts, Taverner also produced many watercolours with the South Downs landscape and historic buildings within a short drive of his home in Eastbourne providing the greatest inspiration and subject matter. We have a number of Robert Tavener's watercolours for sale including another view of Tunbridge Wells.
Dimensions: Image 48 x 36 cm, Frame 66.5 x 54.5 cm
Postage & packing: The picture can be hand-delivered for £10 to an address in the Tunbridge Wells area. For other UK addresses the postage would be £15 but the glass would have to be removed. Framer's paper tape and steel pins would be included so that the existing frame can be reused once new glass has been cut. Alternatively, the picture can be hand delivered to most places on mainland England and Wales outside the Tunbridge Wells area for £50.
