Robert J. Coppillie Watercolour Yellow Wagtail

1 of 6
We are offering for sale this delightful, large watercolour by the artist ROBERT J. COPPILLIE, who has signed the painting to the lower right. The painting depicts a Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava) a member of the Pipits & Wagtail family, perched amongst some white clover.
The Yellow Wagtail is a protected bird under The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is a summer visitor, migrating to winter in Africa. It breeds in a variety of habitats in the UK, including arable farmland, wet pastures and upland hay meadows. Serious declines in breeding numbers across all of these habitats place the yellow wagtail on the red list of birds of conservation concern.
Robert J. Coppillie was born in Westminster, London in 1951, the son of Frederick Leonard Coppillie (1918-1987). He is a painter in watercolour and gouache and a teacher. In 1976 in Colchester he married Christine M. Vincent and moved to Ipswich, close to which he currently lives. He paints flowers, birds and wildlife in meticulous detail.
He has held teaching courses at Snape Maltings, where he exhibited. He also exhibited at the Society of Wildlife Artists and the Haste Gallery in Ipswich. He has had solo exhibitions at Harrods and several galleries in East Anglia.
The painting is mounted in two tone mountcard to complement and is framed in a lightly gilded wooden frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
Image size: 12 7/8" x 9 1/4" - 32.75cm x 23.5cm
Frame size: 20" x 16 1/4" - 51cm x 41.4cm
Medium: Watercolours
Condition: Very good. There is no foxing or fading to the painting. The frame and mounts are in very good condition.
