A charming English school watercolour drawing of a pheasant in landscape setting by R.Howard. The work is typical of the drawings made by wealthy ladies who were taught to draw as part of their accomplishments. This piece is a wonderful example with the pheasant beautifully drawn and coloured. The bird perches in a tree in a landscape setting with castle in the background. The work is signed around the base of the tree. The frame is the original and simple silvered gold in colour. The whole is in great untouched country house condition and a wonderful period piece. C.1830.
