Regency Style Mahogany Twin Pillar Dining Table
Regency style mahogany twin pillar dining table
here we offer a very versatile and attractive twin pillar dining table. It consists of 2 pedestals each end and a centre leaf that can be attached to make extend it to its fullest length.
The top is of superb Georgian timber and the bases part Georgian and with small alteration.
In first half of the 20thc extending antique tables with legs to each corner were totally out of fashion but the classic design of Georgian twin and triple pillar dining tables were still in high demand.(In fact this type of table made of good timber has never gone out of fashion, apart from the mass produced reproduction type)
The Georgian timber was taken from the out of fashion pieces and used on this type of table by the cabinet makers of the day. Modern timber of the time was bland and the best timber had been cut down in the 19thc never to be replaced as it had taken 100's of years to grow to a good size.
Our example offered here has the wonderful timber found on good Georgian pieces and makes not only a superb dining table but is wonderful on the eye.
The top is attached to a pair of quadruple pedestals with shaped legs with square brass cap castors to each leg.
