A charming Regency period miniature watercolour portrait of a young man. The quality of the work is very good and the detail on the face and his tousled hair excellent. The portrait is not signed but this is typical for this sort of provincial work. The painting is in very good condition, just some slight flaking on the jacket. The frame is most likely the original and has been later gilded and rubbed back over time. The whole has the most wonderful look and is ready to hang. C.1820.
