This is a quality side or pier cabinet. It is from the Regency period, dating to around 1810.
The cabinet is made in walnut and has all the flourish you would expect from high end Regency design with brass inlay outlining the top edge and the frieze of the door. On each side of the door are inset corinthian columns with brass capitals. The columns are reeded. The cabinet stands on a stepped plinth with cavetto edges. The cabinet door retains its original lock and key and the shelved interior is lined in its original velvet material.

This is a very good cabinet. The walnut is well polished. It is elegant without being fanciful. The original lining is faded as you would expect. No damage to cabinet or repair wood worm. This is a very elegant display cabinet or bookcase for a principal room furnished in period antiques.

The cabinet is 40.5 inches high and 13 inches deep and 32.5 inches wide.
