Rare Pre War Military Italian Navy Naval Flag
A Superb & Rare Pre-WW2 Period Italian Flag, with Naval Ensign.
C. early 20th century.
Panel Stitched in woollen and gauze type material.
In splendid 'destroyed' condition, as shown and with immense character - deserves to be preserved, framed and displayed.
A wonderful old flag.
Dimensions -
V. approximately 110 x 75 cms.
Provenance -
This flag, along with the others I'm offering, are direct from the deceased estate of the Hon. Lord Peter Wynford Innes Rees QC (Scots Guards 1945 - 1948). He was son of Major General Thomas Wynford Rees (known as 'Dagger Rees'), Welsh Officer in the British Indian Army, awarded DSO and the Military Cross, Private Secretary to the Governor of Burma. In WW2 fighting in the East Africa Campaign, awarded Bar to his DSO and mentioned in Dispatches.
Condition -
Used. With extensive wear and loss. A multitude of attempted old repairs, in matching coloured old threads, to keep the flag together. 20+ images on file - please message me for more images to show the condition in detail. Thank you.
