Rare Oak Stick Stand by Beehive Maker Edward Burtt
Edward Burtt of Gloucester made beehives and bee making equipment and also enjoyed being a valued judge for the Beekeeping Association in his day with mentions in the Beekeepers Journal however when the “Bee Market” went a little quiet the company started to make smaller pieces of antique furniture, be it not many – this stand being one.
It is a delightful country piece with the ivorine makers label at the front and possessing a little whiff of Stickley and Arts & Crafts about it. It’s an original untouched, un-messed with piece meaning we have lovely aging to the oak, the little bottom tray is dented and has splits – not a big deal and we have no repairs or breaks in the oak. Not sure what the little aged hook is for, maybe a lead for the terrier!
A delightful looking piece of early 20th oak hall antique furniture.
Dimensions - Overall: Height 92cm and 61cm to Front x Width 46cm x Depth 20.5cm
