Rare Georgian Antique Oak Bacon Settle
Rare Georgian Antique Oak Bacon Settle
A very rare, early 18th century antique period oak bacon settle. In wonderful, original condition. It would have been used on a small farmhouse kitchen / parlour to hang the meat in and to use as a chair. A chair and a cupboard, the chair has open arms which double up as support for the oak drop down cutting / carving board. There is a drawer under the seat for storage of utensils. All pegged with panelled sides and back. Inside the chair / cupboard is also panelled. There is a sliding bar inside, that would have had muslin or linen cloth nailed to it, to keep the flies off the meat. This slides up and down well. A fabulous English period oak bacon settle, in such good, original condition and all a fantastic, original colour. A rare survivor.
Dimensions
Height: 158cm (62.2")
Width: 64cm (25.2")
