This is a good example of the iconic Staffordshire figure 'Bull Baiting' in the manner of Obadiah Sherratt dating from the late 19th Century. A highly detailed, hand painted depiction and still retaining its vibrant colours, it is a smaller version of the larger original group by Obadiah Sherratt.

This 'sport' was banned from 1835 and this figure was very popular representation of it. The figure is in nice condition overall for its age, with what appears to be some professional restoration to the dogs paws, see photos. The figure has wonderful colours and the paint is in great order with no real wear.

The group stands 14 cms high and is 19 cms wide and 8 cms deep.
