A WWII era oil on canvas portrait of F/O Geoffrey V. Holmes RAF VR, painted by his father Charles Holmes. Signed and dated 1943, a later painted inscription to the reverse reads: 'F/O Geoffrey V. Holmes RAF VR, missing (presumed dead) over Germany, January 1944. Painted by his father Charles Holmes, a dear son...' A beautiful, evocative and poignant portrait. It is unframed and measures approximately 50cm by 40cm.
