Wonderful deeply and intricately carved wooden holy book stand.
Because there are dragons carved I thought the stand was probably oriental,there are also fleur de lys and scrollwork which doesn`t seem oriental,so the origin is unknown to me.
The precise age is also unknown, I would say the four figures on the top sections look early 19th century.
Every aspect of the stand is carved even the sides.
It is a work of art and brilliantly executed and both pieces are an inch(2.5cm) thick and the weighs over 5Kg.

The closed measurements are 76cm x 30cm x 5cm
The open measurements are 58cm length x 52cm high x 30cm wide,it will sort of stop in a taller position 36cm length x 69.5cm high x 30cm wide

There are signs of use over time but I can see nothing more than that,very good condition.
