Quality Antique George I Walnut Bureau

A fine superb quality early 18th-century George I period walnut bureau of compact proportions beautifully made and displaying excellent colour and patination. The fall-front opens to reveal a well-fitted interior with small drawers, pigeonholes and a central cupboard door all finished in richly figured walnut veneers. Below are four graduated drawers fitted with original brass handles and escutcheons.
The top and drawer fronts are quarter-veneered in highly figured burr walnut with herringbone and crossbanded borders standing on original bracket feet. The surface has developed a deep, warm patina that reflects its age and authenticity. The colour is breathtaking.
This piece remains in very good condition, showing minor wear consistent with age and use — a superb example of early Georgian craftsmanship and elegant design.
Dimensions:
Height: 93 cm (36.6 in)
Width: 79.5 cm (31.3 in)
Depth: 46.5 cm (18.3 in)
Height to Fall 71.5 cm (28.15 in)
An exceptional early 18th-century walnut bureau, offering both refined aesthetic appeal and practicality, ideal for a period or classic interior.
