Quality 19th C French Dasson Table Cabinet
We are selling this quality 19th Century mahogany display table with gilt bronze ormolu mounts. The piece was made by Henry Dasson (see below) and retailed by Edwards and Roberts antique cabinet makers of London. Bearing Edwards and Roberts stamp and with original velvet interior.
Height 31 inches, width 29 inches and depth 20 inches and in lovely original condition.
Henry Dasson (1825-1896) was one of the most celebrated Parisian bronzier ébénistes. His business was located at 106, rue Vieille-du-Temple, Paris. His work is renowned for the fine quality of the metalwork, ormolu and guilding. Specializing in the reproduction of the period styles of Louis XIV, XV and XVI antique furniture, Dasson often used to copy items whilst adding his own style. Successes at the Paris Expositions Universelles in 1878 onwards brought his work into demand on the Continent and in England where he established an elite clientele including the Royal family.
Edwards and Roberts Antique Furniture
The firm Edwards and Roberts were among the best english antique furniture cabinet makers of the second half of the 1800s. The company was founded in 1845 and by 1854 was trading as 'Edwards and Roberts', 21 Wardour Street, Antique and Modern Cabinet Makers and Importers of Ancient Furniture'. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers and the firm produced high quality furniture, as well as good copies of the 18th and 19th century English and French pieces. There workmanship included pieces with satinwood marquetry and favoured the Georgian designs.
