Circa 1890. Unusual and stylish patented rosewood duet stool, with the name ‘Marsden Patent’ stamped to the mechanisms. The double seated top, in needle point upholstery, each seat is adjustable separately by rotating a large rosewood knob. The seats have a ribbed rail, the underside has two very sophisticated cast iron and brass mechanisms. The stool rests on four turned ring turned legs intersected by turned stretchers, all finishing on outswept toes.
