Prattware Malachite Tobacco Jar Jolly Toppers
For your consideration this rare Prattware large cylindrical malachite tobacco jar with the original cover and inner tamper. Delightfully decorated with a transfer-printed scene 'The Jolly Topers' initialled JA for Jess Austin (Prattware's accomplished watercolour artist and engraver). The scene is printed on a malachite ground, heightened in gilt. A rare item indeed.
Circa 1850.
Dimensions
Height 16 x diameter 12 cm.
Condition
Exceptional condition considering the age and use. The colours are bright and vivid. The only damage to note is the lid which has had some restoration (please see the last photo), the restoration is barely visible to the top of the lid.
The photos can probably provide the clearest representation of condition so please examine these carefully.
Please note: antique items for sale may have some wear and marks commensurate with their age which adds to the character of the piece.
