A well executed on on canvas 3/4 length portrait of a ship’s officer holding his cap and with ship to background signed G.R. Healey 1858.

The sailor is young, and perhaps the portrait was commissioned for first his posting to a ship. The sailor has a casualness about his uniform that we rather like. The execution of the face is very good, and perhaps Healey was a more usually a miniaturist. Cleaned and restored. Unframed.
