Pair Victorian separate leg Disraeli dogs c1880.
A Pair of 10” Victorian Disraeli Staffordshire Black & White Spaniels. These were also known as Wally Dogs.
An original pair of English Staffordshire pottery dogs made circa 1880.
Named Disraeli Dogs as the fringe curls on their heads mimicked the hairstyle of Benjamin Disraeli the Victorian British Prime Minister. Disraeli was a favourite of Queen Victoria so many models or lookalikes of him were made, many of them not being very complimentary.
Good early hand press moulded, separate leg examples with black enamelled cloud markings and well defined features. These were paired by the pottery after manufacture, so there are often slight variations.
In excellent bright and sound condition with no damage or repairs, typical signs of age.
Height 10” or 25.5 centimeters, and total weight of 2110 grams.
UK post and packaging is £20.00
