Pair of Vintage Venetian Decorative Glass Mirrors
This pair of decorative glass mirrors are of Venetian origin. They are exquisitely decorative, and we believe them to date from the mid-twentieth century. They have decorative glass frames with some coloured parts and reverse-etched mirrors, one with a lady in the centre and one with a gentleman. The mirrors have electrified adjustable sconces - please note that the electrics are old and have not been tested. We would recommmend that they be tested and wired in by a profesional electrician prior to use. The mirrors have wooden backs. There are no makers marks.
Condition: Overall this lovely pair of mirrors are in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. They are overall quite grubby and dusty and would benefit from a careful clean. Some of the paintwork behind the mirrored parts is faded and we believe that the leaves of the frame would originally have been gilt-painted, but this painting is worn and faded. There is some chipping in places, and some broken parts, including significantly to the leaves at either side of one of the mirrors (with the etching of the lady). These leaves would benefit from replacement. There area also some area of loss - some of the decorative roundel pins are missing, and we believe that there may be a glass leaf missing at each side of each mirror beside each sconce. There are some paint flecks and marks. There are a few black flecks to the mirrors. As is mentioned above the electrified sconces have not been tested and would need to be tested and wired in by a professional electrician prior to use. One of the candle bulbs is partially detached and requires replacement.
