Pair Of Oak Serpentine Front Bedside Cabinets
A lovely pair of bedside cabinets. We date these cabinets to the 1940s.
The cabinets sit on a recessed carved front that is decoratively carved. Both cabinets consist of a single side alternatively hinged door in a serpentine shape. The doors are fitted with large ornate brass handles mounted on backplates and ornate dummy hinges.
The cabinets have a large gallery back with a shapely carved top and inner round column with a carved design at the top. Originally the cabinets would have flanked a headboard to match them.
Internally there is a removable mid height shelf to both cabinets.
The cabinets each have an overall height of 36.5" (93cm), a table top height of 20” (51cm),a width of 21” (54cm) and depth of 14" (36cm).
This lovely pair of cabinets remain in a good condition with some surface markings commensurate with age and usage including one of the cabinets is a tiny shade lighter with mellowing. There are a couple of veneer bubbles to one of the cabinet tops and the left hand side cabinet is very slightly shorter than the right.
These remain a very stylish and elegant pair of cabinets. They will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
