Pair of New Hall Tea Bowls & Saucers, 1785
We are delighted to be able to offer this lovely pair of New hall tea bowls and saucers.
The tea bowls and saucers are all of the fluted form and are beautifully decorated with the early New Hall pattern 139 (see See Plate 17, New Hall & Its Imitations by David Holgate) consisting of magenta festoons linked by iron red lines beneath another iron red line along with a central mainspray consisting of of a pink rose, mauve flowers and green leaves.
The saucers are just under 5 & 1/4 inches (13.3cm)in diameter, whilst the cups are approximately 3 & 1/3 inches (8.5cm) in diameter. Both tea bowls and both saucers are in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The painting in all cases bears remarkably little wear although the central rose in one saucer does have a scratch and one saucer carries some wear to the glaze along a couple of the ridges.
