Pair of Nantgarw Plates Lady Williams Pattern 1815
We have for sale a very rare pair of Welsh Nantgarw Sir John and Lady Williams Type dessert plates c1815.

The two moulded Nantgarw plates are both sumptuously decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt with stunning depictions of flowers. The plates were London decorated and carry the impressed Nantgarw and C W marks to the base.

The plates are in a pattern similar to those in the University Of Aberystwth collection donated by Sir John Williams (President of Aberytswth University) and his wife on their death in 1915.

The plates are 8 & 1/2 inches (21.6cm) in diameter and are both in an excellent condition with very little wear to the gilt. However one plate does have a small firing crack.

These rare and rather stunning Nantgarw dessert plates are currently being exhibited as part of the selling exhibition of rare Derby, Pinxton, Nantgarw and Swansea porcelain "A journey with William Billingsley" 2016, ISBN: 9783741809903
