Pair Of Coffee Cans, Paragon China, c.1920s
This is a very attractive pair of coffee cans by Paragon China dating to around 1920. Originally set up as the Star China Co in 1900, the company was renamed Paragon China after the First World War. They quickly became well known for good quality china in attractive designs and were at their height during the 20s & 30s.
This sophisticated design features a yellow flower on one side of the cup with a pink flower on the other against a gold pinstripe on a white ground. The flowers are the opposite way round on each cup, so with the handle on the right, one has the yellow flower at the front and the pink on the rear whilst the other is the reverse. They are both in good condition with no chips or cracks and only the most minimal wear as you would expect of items from this period. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The coffee cans are each 5cm high and 5cm in diameter (excluding handle).
The marks on the undersides show the Paragon Star mark, the word England and the registered design no. of 634947. The RD No dates the design to 1914/15 whilst the combination of the Paragon Star and England places the manufacture around 1920, before "Made In England" became the compulsory wording.
