Superb pair of early 20th.c. Chinese altar antique tables c.1900. Of typical long and slim form – ideal as hall tables or on the back of a sofa perhaps. In solid hongmu timber, an oriental hardwood with a distinctive red colour. Panelled tops with cleated frames and raised scroll carved ends. Over a crisp carved and pierced apron with a coin on string motif symbolising prosperity at the centre, repeated on both sides. Moulded legs with carved detail at the foot and joined with side stretchers. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
