Here is a very good quality pair of 6ft 7” wide French antique provincial cherry wood benches, circa 1850.

Here is a very good quality pair of 6ft 7” wide French antique provincial cherry wood benches, circa 1850. The benches are constructed from top quality solid cherry wood using the traditional peg construction method. The seat ends are elegantly arched at either end to provide an attractive shape and give the benches some detail. The benches sit on a pair of sturdy shaped style legs with connected stretcher supports below the seat for added strength and stability. The style legs are shaped (which is a sign of good quality). As these benches are constructed of cherry wood, there is a fantastic soft grain configuration to the seats.
As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

Condition The benches are in excellent condition considering their age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As the benches retain the original polish, the table has a stunning colour and patination. This stunning colour can only be found in furniture with its original polish it cannot be recreated with new polish. The elm wood also gives a fantastic grain configuration to the seats. The benches stand firm on the round and do not wobble. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
