Here is a very good quality pair of French antique elm country benches, circa 1850.

Here is a very good quality pair of French antique elm country benches, circa 1850. The benches are constructed from top quality solid elm using the traditional peg construction method. The top of the seat edge is micro beveled which gives the benches some detail. The benches sit on two sets of “A” frame legs with connection stretcher supports for added strength. The legs are chamfered (which is a sign of good quality). As these benches are constructed of elm, there is a fantastic grain configuration to the seats. The pair of benches features a superb colour and patination they are solid solid in joint.
As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

The benches are in excellent condition considering their age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As the benches retain the original polish, it has a stunning colour and patination. This stunning colour can only be found in antique furniture with its original polish it cannot be recreated with new polish. The elm wood also gives a fantastic grain configuration to the seats. The benches stand firm on the round and do not wobble. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
