Pair 19th C. Dresden Porcelain Monkey Figurines
A wonderful, unusual and smile-inducing, pair of porcelain figurines.
Brilliantly modelled as monkeys sailing in leaf-shaped 'boats'. They each pull on the stem and so create an ingenious looped handle.
These are continental, probably originating from one of the inventive factories of Dresden, who were famed for making such fun and original pieces towards the end of the 19th Century. I've not seen such a fun subject as these however.
Each approx 13 cms long x 7.5 cms high.
