Painting 17th Lancer Private William Bate C.1860.
This is a wonderful and rare original Gouache and watercolour painting on paper of a Private in the 17th Duke of Cambridge’s own Lancers. The painting is of Private William Bate and instead of his face being painted the artist appears to have used a cut-out photo of William’s head. The Painting is titled to the bottom Private William Bate, 17th Lancers. This painting is most likely in remembrance of William. C.1860.
