This is a most impressive Anglo Indian carved hardwood chair dating from around 1880. The substantial and quality chair is deeply carved with trailing vines and wonderful mythical beasts. Rare to find in such excellent condition the barrel shaped chair has no breaks or losses whatsoever the hardwood has a lovely warm colour to it and the chair is raised on its original brass castors. The wide outswept arms have a wonderful design terminating in mythical tiger masks and the arched back is stunningly carved with free flowing vines set into and around a typical Indian Mirhab arch. The comfortable deeply sprung drop in seat has been recently covered in a beautiful, trailing wild flowers fabric that suits the chair perfectly.

This is a fine chair that would give great impact in any room or would sit perfectly in a conservatory or orangery setting.
The chair measures 82 cms wide 90 cms deep and is 98 cms in height.
