This is an antique spindle back rocker. An English, beech and elm country house rocking chair, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

Superb craftsmanship to this traditionally appealing rocker
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select beech and elm shows fine grain interest throughout
Attractive, deep caramel hues beam across the country house form

Crest rail of deeply bowed form, accentuated with striking figuring
Five turned spindles form the back rest, with collared detail
Turned balusters supporting each serpentine arm
Wide, circular seat squab with gently recessed saddle slab adds to the comfort

Raised upon pleasingly turned and collared, stout legs
United by a turned double H-stretcher with tapered spindles
The long, arched rocking feet provide a relaxing, gentle motion
Relaxing motion would be ideal for a sunny porch or peaceful corner
