A good, heavy quality and freestanding solid rosewood trunk with applied hand cut and chased brass corner straps. The ends with heavy duty carrying handles and a central chased lock plate. The solid moulded edged lid lifts to reveal a useful storage area with a candle box which conceals a secret compartment accessed by sliding the base to one side. The whole standing on an offset shaped plinth base. In A1 condition, this impressive coffer would make an ideal coffee table, hall or landing storage box or blanket box at the foot of a bed.
