Oil Painting Of Horse Being Watered
A QUALITY OIL ON CANVAS BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED DEPICTING AN ELDERLY MAN STOPPING TO WATER THE THIRSTY HORSES.
This is an interesting and colourful natural painting in a relaxed style, which carefully captures life on the road back in 1928 in a rural village setting.
Note the old cast iron hand waterpump, allowing the man to fill his bucket, and the horses attention being captured as they glance towards the reward they are about to receive.
The horses being shown pulling the canvas looped wagon full of supplies and a rolled bail of hay.
The artist has monogramed his initials in the bottom right hand corner, signing W.H.
The painting is also dated 1928.
The condition is very good,as the painting has been properly cleaned and revarnished by restorers,as well as being relined and reframed.
This work has been undertaken during the last 20 years
The Measurements are large at
Width 51 Inches or 4 ft. 3"
Height 40 Inches or 3 ft. 4"
These sizes include the frame.
I was very excited to be able to acquire this painting, and debated for quite a while about keeping it for myself.
A very unique painting in a class of its own.
Research continues to properly identify the artist who might be Irish. This example is 82 years old,and yet looks as good as the day it was done.
A very popular subject matter, which should attract all the horse lovers.
