Mid 19th Century Oak Settee/Sofa with reeded frame raised on 8 turned legs to castors, covered in old gold silk. Manner of Holland & Sons. The 4 turned front legs with original castors are matched by 4 turned back legs, an unusual mark of quality giving the sofa a well balanced look. Some very slight bobbling on upholstery & an almost imperceptible stain (see photos), but the fabric is so gorgeous we couldn't bear to have it re-upholstered. A good example of its kind, and very comfortable. Circa 1860.
