Oak Coffer Box Trunk Chest Storage Cabinet
English Georgian Oak Coffer - Fall Front Cabinet - c1750
A pleasing quality example of an English 18th century coffer which has been skillfully and sympathetically adapted with the front panel hinged and locked to provide superb cabinet appeal.
This design allows the coffer to be better used for modern purposes such as a unit for placing T.V. on, as the inside can be accessed without having to de-clutter the lid first.
The piece benefits from robust construction and has attractive colour to the oak. There is a wonderful relief carving to the front centre panel bearing the initials E D.
This coffer is presented in good condition and is of useful proportions - internally the piece is clean and would make excellent storage with twin shelves.
Overall a really practical piece of antique furniture offering character and charm. Complete with working lock and key.
Supplied cleaned, waxed, polished and ready for the home.
141cm (57.1") wide
56cm (23.2") deep
78cm (33.1") tall
