Minton Majolica Palissy Renaissance Platter
Superb large majolica platter by Minton known as the Palissy or Renaissance platter decorated with relief moulded figures of the Roman Gods Neptune, Selene, Juno and Mercury lounging in between 4 shallow dishes around the edge of the platter and surrounding a large central dish. Typically decorated in green, blue and brown and with a golden ochre patterned band snaking around the plate framing the scenes.
The piece is unmarked as far as I can see but there are many other fully marked examples available of this model, all dating from c.1860 and it is also illustrated in the Minton section of the International Majolica Society's website.
It measures 36.5cm (14 3/8") long, 31cm (12 1/4") wide and 4.5cm (1 3/4") high. Condition is excellent with no damage and just light surface wear good and commensurate for age and use. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
We wish to ensure all our customers are happy with their purchases and offer a full no quibble return policy for all items returned within 14 days. We ask that returns are notified within 7 days where possible. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility in terms of cost and safeguarding the item through transit.
