Dating to the end of the 19th century (meiji - 1868 to 1912), a near pair of fine blue and white, hand painted Japanese large covered porcelain jars. It is particularly unusual to find them complete with inner as well as outer ceramic covers, the inner liner knob formed as a flower head.

Each stands 10 inches high and note they weigh 2 kg each.

Regarding the decoration, please view all the various picture angles, the similarity is in the garden/ foliage design with the bird in flight, however they are individual and have subtle differences.

The condition is excellent, free from damage, losses or restoration/repair. Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
