An excellent quality parquetry commode / chest of drawers of substantial construction. The serpentine shaped marble top has a moulded edge and is above three long drawers having checked decoration, are veneered and inlaid with rosewood and kingwood. Highly decorative with quality gilt bronze ormolu mounts and large handles and escutcheons. It has a shaped skirt with ormolu mount and is standing on legs terminating in gilt metal sabots. The marble top is removable and perfect for protecting the chest from anything placed on top, vases, keys etc. In excellent condition with only minor signs of use consistent with age. A gorgeous chest that combined with a gilt mirror of painting will look stunning in any room.
