Lustre Plate And Stand With Hunting Scenes.
A highly decorated plate / pot stand with hunting scenes.
An unusual plate cum pot stand in that it is transfer printed to both the top and the base. This gives a plate to one side and when turned upside down it becomes a pot stand. I have shown this in the photographs where there are biscuits or fruit on the plate and a teapot on the stand.
There are hunting scenes to both sides which are contained in a circle of copper lustre, and a colourful floral band which leads to a pink lustre edge.
The plate side has riders with a dog hunting deer through the woods. They look almost relaxed in their pursuit of the prey.
The stand side has riders with dogs chasing a fox across the countryside. They look far from relaxed with one falling off his horse whilst attempting to jump a gate.
The transfer printing suggests it was made in the late Victorian period in the North East of England around the Sunderland potteries.
It has a diameter of 8 inches or 20 centimeters.
The condition is fair, with no chips or repairs. There is a glaze filled firing crack to the rear which slightly comes through to the front.
UK post and packaging is £8.00.
