Dame Lucie Rie (Austrian born 1902 - 1995)

A fine and unusual handled dish or shallow bowl.

c.1948

Beautifully modelled in a fine stoneware, the underside and upper surface is covered in Rie's pale, speckled oatmeal glaze, with contrasting dark manganese to the rim.

The dish is low and elegant, sitting on a fairly deeply recessed foot and featuring a rounded, pierced handle to one side.

This is a much less-commonly seen design and is rarely available for sale.

It measures approx 19.5 cms in diameter (excluding the handle).
