Late Victorian Painted Pine Glazed Gun Cabinet
This attractive antique gun cabinet dates from c.1890 and is constructed from what we believe to be solid pine. This has been later overpainted in white. The cabinet has a single glazed door which retains its original latch handle. This opens to reveal a green felt-lined fitted interior with space for five guns. There is a single securing chain and there are padlocks at either side - please note that only both padlocks are locked and there are no keys present. The cabinet was designed to be wall-mounted and has two more modern wall-mountings on the top.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the painwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little discoloured. The paintwork on the left-hand side is different. The piece shows some signs of alteration and repair - the back panel is possibly a replacement. The glass has some paint-flecking. The green felt-lined interior is grubby and faded and the inside right-and side is not lined. As is mentioned above both padlocks are locked and there are no keys present. The metal chain has some surface rusting.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 129.5cm high, 76cm wide, 27cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
