Circa 1890, late Victorian bamboo two part cabinet bookcase. The flat top is covered in rattan and split bamboo facing. Below this are 2 glazed doors which are again made from split bamboo. Inside are 2 adjustable bamboo and rattan shelves. Below the top, there is a flat section which is worn rattan and there is a small drawer and 2 further glazed doors. The gables are all covered in rattan. The piece stands on splayed bamboo legs at the front and turned bamboo at the back. Excellent example of antique furniture of the period.
