Late Georgian Cream Jug Possibly Rockingham
Very pretty porcelain cream jug of baluster form with raised squared handle, gilded acanthus leaf terminals, rope twist gilded rim and raised curved spout also with moulded acanthus leaf 'mask', all painted with floral enamels.
Quite possibly Rockingham, the overall shape, handle style, terminals, distinctive spout and lip shape along with the style and colours of the enamels closely resemble various ornamental jug pieces in "Rockingham 1745-1842" by Alwyn & Angela Cox and pattern number 512 in gold would tie in date wise with the 1820s.
But it is unmarked so Rockingham or not, either way a lovely jug, pretty shape and decoration.
It measures 5" high and 4 3/4" spout to handle. Condition is very good: a small 1" hairline down one side, enamels and gilding with minimal wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
