Delightful little late 18th.c. Welsh elm box settle c.1790. Just 36″ wide, with a low two panel backrest and sloping arms over a board seat and panelled base. Centre seat board lifts to reveal a useful storage space inside lined with Welsh language newsprint from Yr Amserau, a bi-weekly Welsh language newspaper distributed in North Wales and also in Welsh speaking parts of Merseyside between 1843 and 1859. Chamfered rails and mullions and tapering arm supports. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
