Fantastic large mid 18th.c. solid oak box settle, with carved acanthus leaf decoration to the backrest and carved and pierced arms, on original sledge feet. The centre panel is dated 1753, with the name ‘J. Rebecca Banidt’ carved above, and an interesting hinged panel at the bottom presumably allows the seat to be locked. Excellent solid condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops with great patternation and antiquity.

Dimensions width 73½”, depth 18″, height 39″.
