This is a very impressive stool. It is large and has presence. The stool is Georgian, dating to around 1800 - 1820. It stands on shaped cabriole legs which has something of the 'French' about them. The stool has a shaped apron to each side which you see in chests of the late Georgian and Regency period. The stool has what may be the original upholstery with a velvet surround and a very good needlepoint top with wonderfully muted colours. The stool is very opulent looking.

If you turn the stool over you can see the strap blocks to each corner which you only encounter upto the end of the Georgian period.

The stool is in good antique condition. Upholstery old but clean. Joints solid. No sign of damage or worm.

I love period stools. They are such good furnishing pieces. It would be a pity to hide this stool away in a bedroom. It would look equally good in a principal room furnished in antiques. It will bring a richness to your room.

The stool is 18 inches high and it is 31 inches wide and 18 inches deep.
