Exceptional George III inlaid mahogany bow front sideboard c.1800. Well figured mahogany veneered top with a satinwood crossbanded edge with inlaid ebony and boxwood stringing. Over an unusual configuration of two large drawers and two cupboards flanking a slim centre drawer plus a deep drawer in the kneehole with a hinged green baize covered top. Superb decorative front with symmetrically arranged flame mahogany veneers, also crossbanded and inlaid and with parquetry work detail in contrasting maple wood. Raised on square tapering legs with crossbanded edges and moulded block feet. Some minor wear and repairs, generally excellent original colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshop. Key supplied for the lock in the centre which simultaneously locks both centre drawers. Unusual mechanism to the cupboard doors which are locked with a bolt operated with the pin at the centre of the key holes.
