Large Fine Chinese Kangxi Porcelain Blue & White Tile
A Large and Beautiful Antique Chinese Porcelain Blue and White Tile
Dating to the 18th Century, Qing Dynasty and probably Kangxi period.
A beautiful and elegant design, painted in deep and vivid underglaze cobalt blue, depicting an aquatic scene of flowering lotus beneath a stylised weeping willow tree. All contained within a honeycomb border, with ruyi designs at the corners.
Not to be confused with smaller, later examples......this is a large and substantial tile - heavy in the hand - and makes for a most beautiful, decorative object. Note the photograph alongside a standard wine bottle which helps brings some sense of scale.
The frame itself is western (likely English oak) and probably dates to the early 19th century. The tile itself is earlier.
An absolute beauty - a fine addition to either a tile, blue and white, or Qing porcelain collection.

Condition The tile moves freely in and out of the wooden frame. There are some signs of old, hard residue from when it was once fixed in place. There is some wear and chipping to the edges and corners....most notably to the top right where a shallow chip extends into the visible surface of the tile (approx 1 cms across) and, to the lower left corner where the tip / corner has been lost. Both of these issues have been photographed, as shown. The overall surface is very good for age. There are some firing imperfections, including a burst glaze bubble / frit, near the middle and a fear surface scuffs, again as clearly shown.
Overall, the piece displays very well indeed.
