A very fine Giltwood George III Border Glass Wall Mirror dating from 1770-80.
This stunning mirror measures an impressive 142 cm tall x 105 cm wide.
The frame is of the very highest quality, all carved wood and water-gilded.
Original mercury silvered outer border glass mirrors, central plate is also mercury silvered and all have a lovely grey tone to the reflection, just as one would expect.
The carving on this frame is extraordinary, being very finely executed with interlacing S and C scrolls, double gadrooned border carvings and the most wonderful rococo carved crest and base.
